AWOL? EXCUSE MOI??

Come out, come out where ever you are!!

Investigators probing the federal sponsorship scandal have charged key player and former adman Jean Lafleur with 35 counts of fraud totalling $1.58-million.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for the 66-year-old advertising executive who last surfaced in a resort town in Costa Rica nearly two years ago.

The arrest warrant was filed in Montreal late Friday by the Sûreté du Québec, which is now in contact with Interpol in an attempt to locate Mr. Lafleur.

“Mr. Lafleur has no known address . . . in the province of Quebec or elsewhere in Canada, that's why we asked for a warrant for his arrest,” said Crown prosecutor Ann-Mary Beauchemin on Monday.

read more..........

Why has this warrant for arrest taken so long? Why wasn't he watched? Why has this man been given YEARS to find a hiding place? How much money did he filter out of this country before, during and after the Sponsorship scandal?

I have more questions...........................WHY hasn't anyone from the Liberal Party been charged with fraud, corruption and dirty deeds over this fiasco?

Here's a list.....my feeling is that it's the tip of the iceberg........this cheat, who promptly succumbed to "Gomery" dementia during the inquiry.........has swindled taxpayer's money and is now living in sunnier climes.....................it truly leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Say... you actually posted this story a few minutes before I did.

These things take so long partly due to the fact that there's not enough people in the RCMP at the moment to do it all at once (there's three dozen other criminal investigations ongoing into Liberal activities from throughout their reign of terror on the taxpayers). The Liberals deliberately starved the RCMP to the bone, quite cleverly, I'd say: see- without enough people and other resources, the investigations are taking so long.

Another possible factor has to do with the allegations of corruption and criminality inside the RCMP. If there's been such doings, then it's also plausible that the same folks responsible conceivably may have helped the Liberals out somehow, frustrating investigations into the Liberal gov't and perhaps taking orders from the PMO they really shouldn't have, possibly resulting in peoples' civil rights being violated... like the pepper spray incident and like with those folks who pissed off Chretien who got fired and/or had their house ransacked via searches conducted under warrants that seemed to have been perhaps a bit too easily obtained... there's lots of stinks floating around out there...

As for the bad taste in your mouth, I recommend a minute of rinsing with Listerine, followed by a stick or two of Clorets...

If that fails, try some diluted hydrogen peroxide and then chew a handful of parsley.

If that still doesn't get rid of the unholy aftertaste of the Librano regime, then it's time to see a Priest specializing in exorcism.

yes i did! beat you to the punch....or somehow managed to send telepathic vibes downriver to where you guard the reversing falls....

I was thinking the same thing....until I realized it's been 7 years based on the list of fraud charges and Gomery was completed a year ago +...... did they stumble on something recently? If so, I wanna know what it is and how it is tied to Chretien et al..........

lots of stinks, you're right.

as for the bad taste....I'm drinking peppermint tea right now and will continue on with your remedy.....will call if I need a priest.

thanks for caring sentinel guy.

ps.....still laughing over the pic you have on your blog of Dion and Kermit the Frog...

Interesting that the only person actually charged and convicted in this sordid mess was Conservative, Paul Coffin!

True - he came forward, admitted his role in the sponsorship program, pled guilty and was sentenced - unlike any Liberal involved.

Coffin was a minor player who did present made-up invoices (at the direct instruction of the government officials involved in doling out the money). Methinks he was guilty of conduct becoming the director of a government agency, most of whom have honed this practise to a fine art, as fiscal year-end approaches, every year. But...he should not have done it and he paid, dearly.

Wouldn't it be nice if some of the Liberal Robber Barons would pay too?

And what of the elected officials that received non-declared benefits such as free holidays at Chalets in the Eastern Townships (amongst other things)?

Ah...but I live in Ontario (note the tone of political shame that surrounds this statement) where the Liberals still hold a commanding lead in the polls.

AARGH!

I have one question....why issue a canada wide warrant when you say he's not to be found in Canada?

Duh?

Just my first thought when I heard the story.....it made me laugh.

For Sentinel to couch his comment as "Another possible factor has to do with the allegations of corruption and criminality inside the RCMP. If there's been such doings....".

Methinks Sentinel has a long term respect for the Mounties dating from his boyhood days like myself. I now have no doubt about the truth of the scandals hitting the Mounties, I have lost confidence in them. The top is riddled with coruption and shady deals.

As for the Liberal sponsorship scandal, that is a whole network of corruption of mostly Quebec politicians, rotten to the core.

Daisy........sadly, I am writing to you from another former Tory land.

Wishful thinking, I'm afraid.....though the liberal robber barons SHOULD PAY!

Tay.......this country has a reputation for harbouring some of the worst filth out there from Nazis to Mass murderers and rapists from Africa. We can never seem to find them......despite the Canada wide warrants!

yes, I caught that too......pretty stunned, really. Glad they have Interpol on it..... Gee, I always think of Get Smart when I see the word Interpol.

Canuckguy........don't we all wanna be dressed in red?

I agree with you, and yet it's so difficult to believe that our iconic Mounties may be mired in the muck of corruption. It's our idealistic view of what they represent which added to the cover up. We just don't want to admit there may be something wrong with Dudley Do Right.........right?
