snow, snow, snow....

Ah, the beauty of snow. I took these last week and will be dealing with the same bleak road conditions and winter weather blusteries today. School is cancelled, but the parents have to go to work. This isn't fair!
"Passable, but snow covered and slippery...visibility is fair to poor depending on the wind blowing in your area....." that's what the experts say. YUK, YUK, YUK!
It has been snowing since yesterday morning....light snow which has accumulated quietly and it continues. This doesn't stop life around here like it would in other parts not used to this weather. Rather, it just makes it messy and frustrating.....it tests your self motivation reserves.

Oh, yes there is beauty in the fresh fallen snow. I'm just not seeing it this morning as I gather my energy to go forth and deal with it. OH! They just announced the temps are going to increase by noon which will make the snow turn into freezing rain! Oh Goodie!! Happy Monday!

I wanna stay home!!

We have been dealing with frigid temps the past week down here in WI. Wind chills 40 below. We still must go to work when the kids are off though. Today we are off for Martin Luther King Jr. B-day. State employment has some benefits. My husband is so tired of moving snow and it is only the middle of January. Eek! I guess we are in for another month or so of this crazy weather, but I always remind my husband that we live in WI and that is how it is here. I do love living her during the other three short seasons so I put up with the winter season:)

m2p....i shouldn't complain because you guys have received MUCH more snow that we have this year....the frigid temps hit us last week too....-35 celcius on Friday and Sat. without the windchill.

You are so right and I honestly wouldn't want to live anywhere that doesn't have the 4 distinct seasons. January makes spring so much more delightful

It's lovely isn't it?!?! I was going to write a post this morning about how people become "snow stupid." I haven't gotten around to it yet but boy, I have some stories. Happy shoveling Awareness. : )

No the pictures don't look that appealing when you are in the traffic in the snow it is not much fun
Here we had an enormous hail storm just in the middle of summer but everything is back to normal

m2p...the one thing about snow is that it brought the temps up. It doesn't snow at -35! I traipsed through thigh deep snowbanks this morning to get to my first appt, which luckily was only up the hill from where i live so I didn't have to drive......walked through the worst of it I think! By the time I had to go into the office, it was clearing. the roads were still slippery, but the beauty of the fresh snow did touch me.

Independent chickie....Ha! I got out of it again!! As I had a counselling session this AM, my lovely and talented partner in crime shovelled. Halfway through, one of the boys with toys showed up and blew away the rest!
Look forward to the snow stupid post.

Marja....I did take a few snow beautiful pics today too after the sun came out....I've gotta get my head in the game of winter because its too early to be whining about it. It's only January here...we've got a long way to go before the tulips start sprouting.

mouthy irish lady....YEAH! I wish!
The header is a pic of the Obama poster hanging in my son's room. My father swiped it off someone's lawn the day after the U.S. Election while in Florida. lol!

Niki....Hurray! Snow in Merseyside. I think that would make a great title for a novel about change. When I arrived at work, my colleague had written me a poem.....she put it on my desk....(she hadn't even read this little whine either)
Part of it...
"As cold as snow can be it also brought a glow
A glow of newness
A fresh start to Monday
A fresh start covers the ground
A fresh start providing opportunities of play, of sport, fresh tracks,
A fresh start of glitter as the sun shone down.
The blanket is so even as it embraces everything it falls on
The blanket that protects the underneath to break the harsh wind.
So white
so beautiful
so magical
SOOOOO much!

Only winter can provide us with this fresh start. "

She is so right. Winter does provide us with a fresh start....and a time to plan it all out!!

Hope you made a snow angel!

Oh dear...that looks bleak indeed. I'd be so screwed if I had to drive in those conditions. I wonder how people cope who have never had to deal with snow before?

Looks very bleak! We sometimes have that sort of snow, but happily it doesn't last too long, usually.

Its nice to be in England with a maritime climate! :)
