part of something beautiful...

I stumbled across this youtube video on another blog and it simply took my breath away. I could picture myself in the audience listening to this man fill the space with wondrous sound images. As he sang this beautiful song, in my mind's eye, I saw him transform the Performance Cafe at the Greenbelt Festival into a swaying sea of people absorbing the positive swirling messages through a sense of communal love and belonging. I have no idea if he's ever played at Greenbelt before, but he surely should!!!

Under the star twinkling lights....

The artist is new to me. Perhaps he's well known across the pond? I don't know. What I do know is that I have fallen in love. Alexi Murdoch's gifts pull you into a holy moment of rapture.

If you have the time to sit inside the stillness of this song......

oh D! you and I have similar music tastes...I got to see Alexi in concert last year. I had never heard of him before but he openned for Alanis Morrissette at Massey Hall, where the acoustics are amazing and so is the setting. My friends and I were mesmerized too...we all looked at each other after his first number and said this is church!! Actually he just came out humbly to the stage and was not introduced. So after his first number someone in the audience yelled out, who are you!!! it was classic! I bought his latest album and LOVE it...it is medicine to my soul, esp. "Breathe":) hey it's good to be back reading your blog again!!!

WOW!
I definitely felt THAT in my toes!
I most assuredly feel "part of something beautiful" ... and that of course, is life.

Thanks Dana ... AWESOME!

m2p...I'm glad you enjoyed it. I listened to a few more of his songs as well and love them all.

mmp... amazing how this man's voice and repetitive beautiful message seems to sink right in wasn't it?

Canuckguy.... I laughed when I read your comment. Check out his other songs. They aren't so religiously obvious. His voice reminds me of Nick Drake. There's also a resonance to his music that is similar to the beautiful echoing of the Trinity Sessions. Or maybe I'm just delusional. But then, I are a warped counsellor.

Karyne.... that is hilarious! First Foy Vance and now this guy!! I guess I'm just catching up to you. I havent been to see a concert in Massey Hall in years and years!! I think it was Rickie Lee Jones, and where the heck is she these days? We tried to get tickets a couple of years ago when Van Morrison was playing there. Its one of the best venues isn't it?

I'll have to get my hands on the CD too.

Scarletina.... part of something beautiful.... the song was an true affirmation wasn't it? I'm glad you liked it.

Deb.... A few of his songs have been used in Grey's Anatomy, according to what I read. I think I need to watch that show.... I keep finding musicians whose work has become their soundtrack.

oooh. You have a talent for finding great music!

He sounds Irish, but his name sounds Russian.

Whatever. His music is beautiful.
