joy and woe

lighthearted life, UNB woods
October, 2009
(click on the photo to make it bigger!)

It is right it should be so;
Man was made for joy and woe;
And when this we rightly know,
Thro' the world we safely go.

Joy and woe are woven fine,
A clothing for the soul divine.
Under every grief and pine
Runs a joy with silken twine.

William Blake

Amidst the swansong sadness of the season, sometimes life is affirmed by a little miracle moment when just the right light appears. It reminds you that joy is never too far away. In fact, it may just be nestled in the woods. Grace, waiting to be discovered.

ps. I had several comments on my last post that somehow
were assigned for "moderation"
somehow and it looks like they were lost in a blogger glitch.
Sorry about that.

That is a gorgeous picture! But what is that tiny gleaming thing down on the bottom left had bit of the leaf? I enlarged the picture, but couldn't decide if it was a teeny snail, or a drop of water that looked just like an eye! I think its a drop of water, in which case I feel that an eye is loooking at me secrfetly. Not spooky or anything, just there, bit like God.

Judy....it seems to appear when you've taken a break from looking.

Naomi....I was busy "framing" shots above and looked down at my feet and there it was.... a small leaf nestled in water... the light from behind me zeroed in on it.

Gilly....it is a water bubble, yes. It has such a glimmer to it as well that it looks alive.
