The latest foiled terrorism attacks by the Muslim al-Quaeda gang members surely has raised the fear level throughout the world. The fact that these terrorists are all from the medical community forces us to question the stereotypical profile we have been fed through the main stream media stories and the politician's speeches. Having stated that, I do believe we are at fault too.....we want to believe in the sense that these suicide bombers are downtrodden. It helps us make sense of it, and it helps us walk away from the responsibility of doing something about it.
There was a feeling of pity for the poor souls who had been brought up in poverty, with no upward career possibilities as a way of understanding the motives behind the bombings around the world. This in turn most likely affected the approach governments and do-gooders have been taking to try to assuage the Muslim community to feeling "connected" to the bigger community. As well, it minimalized the severity of the hatred and the drive behind a much larger Muslim group.
Where and when did we forget that the 9-11 attackers were educated people as well? When did we begin to focus on just the so-called marginalized Muslims? When did we pigeon-hole the "typical" potential al-Quaeda suicide bomber as a wayward kid in search of life meaning? This is a major wake up call. We should never be so stupid again to think that Islamic extremists fit into a one size fits all mold. The level of hatred and devotion to their cause goes deep.....much deeper than we have ever given them credit for. Educated people living in our communities ARE involved. They always have been.
Where this will end? I surely don't know. What I do know and fear greatly is that we are a very long way from any resolution whatsoever. The recent calls for the moderate Muslims to come forward to lead seems very hollow right now as I can't quite get my head around the idea that moderation is understood or embraced the way I define it. Yes, we need to carry on and live our lives. But, I find this process more and more difficult as my trust of government and the power people decreases and my doubt of the idea of a Moderate Muslim increases.
No country is safe. That's the fact. And as much as we carry on living our little lives, our world continues to spew violence, hatred and craziness so much so that we are learning to always look at our neighbours with very different eyes. I hate it, but that's our reality.

My...
So far no one really commented on the post itself.
Wonder why?
Perhaps a lot of folks don't want to think about the dangers? Afraid to face reality? Afraid to face their own mortality?
I'm afraid that ignorance isn't bliss.
And I must advise that the mainstream media isn't telling us the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. They deliberately omit critical facts so that we won't understand the truth. They frame the reports, select talking heads on the basis of political correctness, the reporters are reading from a script vetted by editors who deem what can and cannot be said.
Many folks today still don't understand the reality of the situation. They engage in self-blame, rather than realizing that there are people who want to kill us simply because we're different, not like them. "Foreign policy" is a red herring. It's all about Islamic theology and its facilitated and funded by Russia and China via Islamic proxy states such as Iran and Syria.
But of course, most on the left will deny this adamantly, sticking to the politically correct lies they find more comfortable.
It's sad that Free Worlders want to wear hairshirts rather than saying that they don't want anyone coming here and killing us just because we're not Muslims and because this isn't an Islamic nation.
Excellent point, Dana. It is time for us all to wake up & realize that the hatred has no socioeconomic boundaries ... and unfortunately for the US, we have a president who has managed to piss off a multitude of peoples. Peace, JP
Ah, Deborah, Dubya has pissed off everybody now.
It's too easy, too simplistic to allow oneself to be seduced into believing that one man is the root of all the world's ills today...
And do you realize that prior to 9/11, Dubya had declared he didn't want to get involved in the world? He wasn't doing anything at all. And then 9/11 happened... wholly unprovoked...
Sure, it's all Dubya's fault. Everyone is perfect except Dubya. Everyone else would've just done nothing in response to 9/11. And as for Iraq- hey, the rest of the Islamic World hated Saddam and was pleased to see him dethroned. Still, they use Iraq as a red herring to do jihad in the name of Allah against the Infidels.
And if our people weren't over there fighting the barbarians, the barbarians would've simply come right here where we are and killed innocents as they went about their business... for that's what they do... because it's Allah's will that they go around killing "Kaffirs" like us... in fact, it's all in the Koran...
And you know, Islam is pissing off more and more folks all the time. Please, let's not wear hairshirts. It's not our fault, nor even Dubya's, that these barbarians hate us. Was it the Jews' fault that the Nazis hated them? No. Same thing. And did you know that the Muslims and the Nazis fought on the same side, in the same armies, against the Free World?
I did not make any of this up.
Hi Julie....will do.
Sentinel Guy....my feeling is that global terrorism is so massive and frightening and out of our control that the vast majority of the population will keep silent. I don't think it has anything to do with awareness......we are all too aware of the ramifications of terrorism, despite international political attempts to find an easy solution or a way to rationalize the reasoning behind it.
I agree ....... this is way beyond the doings and sayings and posterings of one President. Islamic terrorism is global....their hatred is levelled at all. There are no geographic boundaries.
Hairshirts? eeeeeewwwwwww.......
They can call these people marginalised or anything else they like. I just call like it is....PURE EVIL. It would take someone with a fairly decent education to be able to mastermind something as well organised as 9/11.
Nothing at any time has ever effected me like that particular moment in history and I live on the other side of the world. No-one, anywhere is safe, make no mistake about that. I will never feel safe again.
The question that I can never seem to get my head around is,
"Why do we keep on supporting all of this with our hard earned dollars?"
It seems to me that when Kennedy promised to put a man on the moon before the end of the sixties (and then did it) that the concept of attaining anything at all costs was proven viable.
It changed the world in ways never before seen. It was the catalyst for the invention of and democratization of computers, the internet and all things that have come of this technology.
Why,then, won't someone (as Kennedy did with some vision - don't get me wrong here, I couldn't stand the man or what he represented - but the example is just too juicy to ignore) - why, then won't someone declare Hydrogen the fuel of the future and go about making it happen at any cost?
Then the Osama Bin Ladens and 9-11 terrorists of this world will suddenly find their oil rich sugar daddies very poor. The shift of economic power back out of the hands of these blood thirsty, power hungry, zealots would go a long way towards setting things back on an even keel.
...and one more thing - why does the west think that we can trade every friggin' job we have to China for cheap goods? The results are already devastating, but just wait. There will be no jobs left here. Our food supply will be coming from the same farms that recently killed a number of household pets.
You cannot buy reconstituted apple juice in this country that is not made from Chinese concentrate. Real juice has escaped this fate so far, but it won't be long before we have no apple growers left.
But then....since we seem intent on having radical anti-democratic islamists, whose greatest desire is to own and rule North America, taking care of our energy needs - why not farm our entire food supply out to a brutal communist, anti-democratic government in China, anyways?
As an American, I think there is one very important aspect of the "war on terror" which has been neglected--our own complicity, due to our policies as well as lifestyles, which have contributed to the rise in terrorism.
But, often, when I say that, people give me strange looks, because, God forbid, we have anything to do with what's wrong in the world.
Dustin... Here, may I flick that little piece of lint off of your hairshirt for you?
*Sigh*...
No good deed goes unpunished. And, boy, is the Free World ever being punished!!!
Everything done to us by haters and murderers is naturally our own fault. Sure. And everyone who gets raped somehow must've done something to make the rapist rape them, and they deserve it... always. Never does a rapist do it for no reason at all. Always is provoked. It's never the nature of a rapist to just rape. They never do it out of hatred or power lust. Rapists aren't ever simply evil. They don't do it for sex, sure. They should be the ones to get the hugs, compassion, etc. Same for serial killers... and Islamic jihadists. Yeah, sure.
Dustin....methinks you got one of the looks you write about from Mr. Sentinel :)
Ah.......will have to think about any rebuttal on my part.
Daisy.....your input is very interesting. Economic ingenuity which promotes a huge shift is definately worth considering....am wondering if anyone is looking at this seriously......
I didn't know that about reconstituted apple juice. That's horrendous. Since the pet food catastrophe, I have been alarmed by the stories on the power and control over our food stuffs.....I had no idea.
One of those looks? Like when we fart real loud in public amongst perfect strangers? The kind of strangers who apparently don't fart and haven't even heard one or even heard about the very concept, it seems?
Er... am I the only one who thinks stuff like this?
What's that look y'all're now giving me? I gotta booger? Spinach on my teeth? Fly down? Suddenly sprout boobs?
Oops... time for my anti-silly medication... :b...
I'm staying the feck away from that reconstituted "apple juice".
Anything that might've come from China, I try to avoid these days. I'm not falling for the Commies' blaming "a few corrupt individuals" whenever we learn of stuff like this, like dangerous products and stuff. The Chinese Communist Party will cover its ass by blaming anyone, executing them, perhaps... clever, but we shouldn't fall for it. The CCP clearly could care less about our health and safety.
The "apple juice" is probably actually part a.j. and part p.p. ... the SinoCommies probably think it's illogical and inefficient to waste urine and most likely are always having their scientists find disgusting, unethical... and immensely profitable... new ways to use over a billion peoples' golden squirtin's...
What am i going to do with you sentinel guy......i don't know whether you have potty mouth or not, but you sure as hell have potty fingers!!
You are so outrageous that you make me laugh out loud. And if you ever sprout boobs.....well, please send me a photo.
And for God's sake, stay the feck away from the apple juice.
Well, now that we have fecked up the entire apple juice market - why stop there????
Ever looked at the "With Compliments" brand of various relishes etc. (the brand owned by Sobeys and sold at various other supermarkets including IGA).
I just can't figure out why we need relish made in Pakistan or India when we are, quite frankly, completely competent growers of cucumbers and onions here in good old Canada!!!
Please....the next time you find a jar of condiments at the supermarket selling for .67 cents per jar - have a quick thought about what it might actually be, where it was made (under what conditions) and just whom you are sending to the unemployment office by saving a few cents per jar.
Please don't tag me as a raving nationalist - I have no problem with quality imported products. Especially those made in places that respect human values, rights and needs and which offer superior quality or value.
But I refuse to purchase consumer goods made in China! (see Canadian Sentinel's apt description of conditions there!)
...and "Made in Canada" - yikes there's another topic for another day! Just remember that it does not mean what it says!
Hey Canadian Sentinel, your frankness brings a smile and chuckle to me as well... and your wisdom is impressive.
I like stir fries but however reading lately of the riskiness of some Chinese food products, the other day I refused to buy water chestnuts for my stir fry since all the ones there were Chinese. I was despondent. Paranoid like Sentinel as well I guess. Boo
Canuckguy.....i wondered where you were!
Interesting article in today's Globe and Mail (Life section) on labels and made in China products. This is a topic I think we will be hearing more and more about..........
perhaps the only blessing to have come out of the pet food tragedy ....our knowledge and awareness has been heightened.
Awar, ya silly gal, no, I will definitely NOT send you a picture of me with my shirt off, and certainly not if I suddenly found myself in need of a brassiere. But if you want, I'll send you one of me with my shirt ON (pants, too, of course!). I trust you not to show it online or anything, so if you wonder what I actually look like, let me know and I'll email it to you. Then you'll be able to spot me in public more easily next time y'all come on downriver...
House- why, thank you. I just tell it as I see it as best as I can. As I do on my blog. Canuckguy here, however, thinks I'm pretty weird. Dunno why... a closet Liberal, maybe?
Canuckguy, you know those pea pods that go into stirfries? I love those, but now I'm afraid to have any, as they're from China. I'll have to eventually grow my own if I want to be sure they're safe!
I blame the Liberals for cavalierly, arrogantly having bad policies discouraging Canadians from being farmers and providing Canadians with safe, nutritious, Canadian-grown produce!
And as for fish, lot of it's from China... and it's grown in heavily-drugged, pesticide-laden untreated sewage. Very nasty stuff. I'd rather catch my own eatin' fish where I live... gotta be much safer that way. But then again, some folks claiming to be "Natives" would probably stop me on the way from the lake and claim it's theirs and I gotta pay 'em for it... What to do, what to do... Can't get fish for free from your own waters in your own countries, can't eat SinoCommie-farmed swimmers...
Sentinel Guy.....would love to see a photo of you. Chances are we have crossed paths and didn't even know it....though I think you would've remembered given the photo you posted of me the other day in my Canadiana bikini and mukluks.
Your description of the fish environment in China....gee it smells like the Bay of fundy to me too.......how safe are those fishys?
This whole discussion on China imports has certainly piqued my fear factor......I found myself sniffing around the apple juice section today checking the labels....AND second guessing what I was reading.....
Will continue to buy produce and fresh fish etc at the Fredericton Market....to support local and to make sure I'm buying healthy stuff.
WE SHOULD ALL SHOP AT OUR LOCAL MARKETS!!!!!
It's worth any extra cost to shop at local-produce-only markets if it means that we're protecting our and others' health and safety from produce sent from afar where everything's run by evil folks who don't value human life, like the Chinese Communist Party, who, btw, since 2005, has lost 23 million members and counting, following the release of an explosive book called "The Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party", a book that terrifies the regime so much that they won't even condemn it for fear that doing so will only make it more popular.
Besides shopping at local-only-produce markets, we can certainly grow our own produce, if we have enough backyard space. Coming from Regina as a wee li'l 'un, I recall that pretty much everyone, even in the city, grew their own veggies in their backyards.
Boycott Commie Chinese veggies... buy local stuff only or grow your own. It's the logical, wise thing to do!
The fish in China... definitely NOT safe at all. Avoid like the plague (it might even have that in it!)
