jelly bean ideas...............

Well, here she is...............my offering for Sunday Scribblings. The prompt was "Idea" and boy did I have a journal scribbling feast..........lots of ideas germinated and captured for future consideration. I decided on writing an analogy and for some reason, jellybeans won out. As I was trying to find the right words, I kept thinking about J.K. Rowling and how absolutely amazing her one idea about a wizard named Harry Potter captured her own imagination and expanded the minds of millions of others. Sometimes it just takes one idea, one little thread of an idea that needs a tug and well..........................................who knows where it will lead??

Hope you enjoy............. :)

A burst of tangerine,

the tangy taste of lemon,
an icy air blast of mint.
midnight jazz licorice,
lazy pink bubble gum summer chew
comforting cinnamon
hot buttered toast

brain zipping cappucino
carnival candy floss
vanilla
chocolate
marshmallow
vine-sweet strawberries
exotic tropical mango

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........a bouquet of mouthwatering morsels.

Ideas are like Bertie Botts Every Flavour jelly beans. They all have their own pizazzzzzz. Sometimes you can take a handful and throw them all in your mouth at the same time and somehow the flavours interplay as a brand new taste, and it works. Some, however, you want to bite right into it, letting the flavour burst open spontaneously all on it's own. Other times, you want to leave it on your tongue in rumination, savouring the flavour while letting the memory settle in.

Not all jelly beans are tastefully inviting.............just like some ideas. There are definately duds hidden amongst the pack.

Squishy squid
rancid vinegar
repulsively foul rotten eggs
tripe
trout
toe nails

The very thought of them make me squeamishly turn up my nose and shut my mouth tight. But, it doesn't stop me from wanting to seek out a new flavour.........a new idea to savour. Once I've tasted the successful sweetness of brown sugar combined with a tarty blueberry, my curiosity pushes my desire to explore, to experiment, to stretch my tastebud boundaries. I may stumble across one that tastes like cough medicine or worse a mouthful of mud, but I know if I keep at it......................I'll find a winner in that inviting bowl full of jelly bean ideas..........

C'mon, put your hand in there and dig in..........

Now this is what I call an idea!
I enjoy the JellyBelly Jelly beans- my trick is to eat a handful at a time, mixing the flavors- maybe I can do that with my ideas as well!

Hi there........oh I'm so pleased you enjoyed it...... I bounced the idea off my daughter before I "jumped" in with this take on the prompt....I'm glad it worked......one never knows, so the feedback is very helpful.

I'm now thinking that I could elaborate on a childrens bouncy book on ideas.......... hmmmmmmmmm......yes I think this ideas tastes very much like........ a peanut butter cookie........will have to try another and think about it.....

Absolutely wonderful! Enjoyable fun post! Funny thing is yesterday someone sat a box of gourmet jelly bellies right beside my computer. How come I never had that idea? Haha! Very entertaining metaphor! Loved this post! Very inspiring! You're absolutely right, it just takes one great idea!

Peace and giggles

You took something that is very common that you do...noticed the mechanics behind your process...and then elaborated on it. You gave yourself permission to be silly. The next thing you know, it spawned the next idea. This was very Roger Von Oech -ish (check out his books or his website). Careful on who you bounce those fragile newborn ideas off of, though. Many people are idea smashers!

Thanks for the post!!!

Yummy! Thanks for sharing, sweetie. Hope you don't mind that I take the chocolate and mint ones....my favorite mix of all.

Tasty. I think they had an earwax jelly bean in Harry Potter too. Just the creativity of her making up her every flavor jelly bean is inspiring.
Nice, funny post.

Hi Giggles......great name......jelly beans need to be in your life...they are giggles food......thanks for visiting and thank you for the kind words.

Nutter......welcome.....and you're right. I will keep my follow up ideas closer to my heart..... :)

Hi Ellen!! check out Sunday Scribblings!! It is a great creative writing expander..... you can have the mint and chocolate ones.....just leave me the tasty tangerine and blueberry treats...yummy.

Hi Sarala.......earwax was one of the tasty treats.......so was vomit....eeeeeewwww gross! I agree with you.......even if Rowling had taken her jelly bean idea to the willy wonka factory, she would've had a hit. I was thinking that too!! Thanks for visiting.

OH, and Nutters? I will check out the Oech person........thank you for sharing your observation. I was cognizant of the mechanics while I was trying to find the flow. The trippy wordplay I love, but it's often the mechanics behind a piece which ends up fascinating me.

Cheers......
