dare to be different

Muskie, circa 1981

"We need pilgrims with unflinching honesty,

who are willing to take risks,

who accept that there is no point in upsetting yourself

if you're not willing to be different."

Is that you in that pic???

Very good quote. I am compiling all the quotes I've collected over the year, its 12 pages long so far. Ugh!

Nice spot - that Big Hawk Lake and nice pic of MUSKIE!!!

But the real question is - Is she driving the Stable Mable or the Steady Eddy? (and who is that on the disc?)

Jean Vanier is one of a kind - his work with developmentally disabled people is legendary and his take on life, an inspiration. A modern day saint?

Thanks K......hope all is well in beautiful Montreal. We'll be heading through your town early March for a family road trip....

Hi Layla. Yes it is me when I was Muskie the fearless camp counsellor. My friend Scott took the pic...he was supposed to be spotting the kid on the disc behind the boat!

Ah to be 20 with a tiny waist and perky breasts again!! hahaha

I love the quote too. I had written down ages ago in my journal and remembered it after reading a comment Paul posted on his blog.

Hey Daisy......we were posting at the same time!! How's that for synchronicity!! It was the Steady Eddy my friend. And who the heck knows who the kid is..... good to know Ribii is a multi-tasker. I think he was drinking a stubbie at the same time!

Jean Vanier is a modern day Saint. I agree. I wish that when I was living in Toronto that I had known about the L'Arche community there. It would've been in it's early days. Henri Nouwen? I have posted many quotes from him.....he lived and worked at the L'Arche in Toronto in the '80's and passed away suddenly while living there.

Aaaaahhhh how much fun it was to be young!!! I look back on those times in my life and sigh...how I wish that youth wasn't wasted on the young. If I only knew then what I know now I would have ruled the world and dared to be different a bit more often. My mom thwarted all my attempts at being different. I guess she didn't approve of my Daisy Duke shorts or my being one of the guys...she may have had a point.

I need to find insightful quotes and stuff...I seem so uneducated lately.

I never remember quotes... perhaps a journal is in order ....

dare to be different - a lesson for life perhaps?
I like the quote, another name to add to my list of people to look up - cheers

I think the message here is that we all need watersports...

Hey Sunny. I will send you the link Katie (rainbow) sent me the other day. (thank you Katie btw). Plus, I have another link to a site.....it sends me daily quotes etc which often are quite thought provoking.

Katie....I think you will love the word and wisdom of Jean Vanier. He has a few beautiful books that are so uplifting.

Niki! Right on, we need water sports.....my personal fave is canoeing. However, given that it's minus frigging 30 outside these days, skating is the only watersport around.......though I did see a crazy cat our wind surfing on the ice..........NUTS!
