where it lurks

It dawned on me today that happiness is found in a muddy puddle left from the rain. You can't splash around making a blessed mess with gladness if you havent had a good rain.

I'm off to find a few puddles, a couple of streams, and an enlightening lake or two. It's time to take a bit of a breather.

You're very welcome to check out one or two of my previous posts while I'm gone. There's close to 900 of them..........maybe there's sometime in my archives which may catch your fancy? I'd love to know..........

Marja...the sun is shining......the weather is definately hot.....was using the rain as an analogy for emotions. I was thinking that we don't really understand happiness unless we spend some time mucking through some sadness too.

gypsy.....yes...I can't quite believe I have that many either. It just kept spilling and spilling.
ps. I'm fine, thanks for asking.

Katie....looking to find that ever elusive revitatlization.

claudia.....they are great boots aren't they? They are a part of my daughter's fashion statement. ME? I actually don't own any rubber boots....I prefer bare feet. I like the muck between my toes.
btw......the flooding is long gone, thanks for asking.....the whole area is lush and beautifully green.....

bsp....puddle are smile inducing arent' they? we drove right out of the rain.....and into sunshine....am on the road for a bit soaking in some Upper Canadian sun. (they had rain here for 14 days.....I hope NB isn't getting all of that now.)

robert.......thank you. I am in need of a respite. hopefully the ideas will generate again.

Deb...thanks.....I think sometimes we get going so quickly in our lives that we suppress a lot of our other emotions just to keep moving.......sometimes its the only way to get stuff done....

Apparently if we cover ourselves it in and then scrub it off it works wonders.. am not sure if it's not that we really just feel extra clean afterwards though...

works for sadness and gladness too I think.:)

Have a WONDERFUL time with your time away from blogging...Splash a lot of puddles, Dana...! And come back when you feel like doing your 901st Post...(900??? My Lordy...I thought I had accomplished a lot at 500!!!)

When we were very young, my mother taught us to remove our boots and wade into the puddles bare foot!

That way, the mud on the bottom would squish up between your toes - and it felt ohhh...so...good! It took the strain and pressure off those tired feet - a cool and soothing balm.

So - get those boots off your feet and let that icky muck slide and squish up between all of your toes - there is nothing like it.

Oh, and mom??? She turns 80 this fall and she is up north again (for her 80th summer) seeking out her puddles and squishing away.

Living proof that we never have to grow up completely!

Dana, you have the most beautiful sunsets up there and the most interesting boots. You are prolific and imaginative and I love your blog because of that! Like the boots and the sunset photos, your posts are breathtakingly refreshing!

Your post reminded me of the A.A. Milne poem called 'Happiness'

John had
Great Big
Waterproof
Boots on;
John had a
Great Big
Waterproof
Hat;
John had a
Great Big
Waterproof
Mackintosh --
And that
(Said John)
Is
That.

Katie.....will look into that. can't have one without the other.

Naomi....thanks......not many puddles, but lots of lakes and pools and bodies of water around this past week. Have been taking in the sun and the water with friends and family.
I haven't reached the 900 post milestone just yet.....probably by mid August at the rate i'm going. :) I'll keep you posted. We'll have a party.

Daisy.....have been walking around barefoot a lot this past week.....and spent sometime on lake Kawagama! Didn't make it to Kawabi unfortunately because we were on an island and I couldn't get to the marina to my van to sneak away for a Skip respite.

I love that your Mom knows the importance of the northern air and the key to living......may none of us ever lose our zest for childhood.

Tim. Thank you so much! I will be posting more boots and leg warmer shots over the summer! I am actually collecting photos to eventually put together a montage of colour. :) As for the sunsets....you are SO right! And, I find that they are all uniquely magnificent. This is a beautiful country and I'm very glad to be living here.

Kamsin....I LOVE the poem. Thank you! I had never read it before.
