settled faith...

I read this passage tonight and really liked it.......

"It is not necessary that we should discover new ideas in our meditation. It is sufficient if the word as we read and understand it penetrates and dwells within us. As Mary pondered in her heart the tidings that were told by the shepherds, as what we have casually heard follows us for a long time, sticks in our mind, occupies, disturbs or delights us, without our ability to do anything about it, so in meditation God's word seeks to enter in and remain with us. It strives to stir us to work and to operate in us so that we shall not get away from it the whole day long. Then it will do its work in us without our being aware of it."
Dietrich Bonhoeffer

It's like donning your favourite sweater. There is a comforting feeling of just knowing you have it on,....that its with you as you go about your typical day making you feel cozy. But because it has become a part of who you are, you kind of forget you're wearing it.

It's like being with a companion whom you can completely relax with....someone who feels like they are an extension of you.....whose clay mixes with your own. There is always much to talk about, and the desire to share heartsecrets. There are also many moments of quiet comfort when you are able to unconciously dwell in each others trusting energy.....never taking it for granted, but no need to question the presence of love because its unconditionally eternal.

It's like having an internal beacon of light on that warms, delights and safely guides you as you carry on with your day. Always, without fail......

It's knowing you can rely on God without any need to question His presence.

That is a lovely passage Dana.

I like the idea of something working within me without me being aware of it. I think we often tend to overthink things to the point where we mutilate the original thought beyond all recognition.

Gypsy...me too. I tend to beat a thought to death. I actually find that writing helps me let go of the perambulation before that happens, but sometimes I chew and chew and chew like the idea is cud.
