This is the view from the hallway looking out the front door. Canada is no place to raise a wee lassie lapdog. oh, no.....not when one has to venture out through a snowdrift like this one... wee little purse dogs best be hangin' in warmer climes. If one has to tunnel through just to find relief....well one needs to be a brave and fearless dog from Labrador. Gracie is still out prancing and tunnelling....she has the street to herself. Ah, freedom from leashes!
both shots were taken a few minutes ago.... 40 cm of snow since last night and it's still coming down. More photos to come....just have to find the snowshoes....oh wait a minute! they are in the back of the VAN! maybe I'll just go put the kettle on and wait a bit.

Your puppy and the back drop of snow are beautiful.
i could use a little grace in contemplation...actually? i could use a lot.
i love the photos and the snow....
hope your warm and cozy with your sweater and woobies all around you...
Tabitha...as much as I would love to see the summer grass green and lush again SOON, I am in awe of the beauty of this particular snowstorm. I was woken up by the 90km per hour winds at 3am and watched the snow accumulated right before my eyes. the wind had died down, but the snow continues....and the drifts are like the dunes you find on Prince Edward island...only it's WHITE. :)
Irish Heather...me too! I think that was what i was trying to convey in the poem i posted earlier today.
It's all cozy here...the fire is on in the fireplace. I've made comfort food...shephards pie and homemade biscuits... i even made a lemon meringue pie...its not often i get time to putt in the kitchen.... we're all enjoying the down time. nothing like a surprise day off for all.
What a beautiful dog Dana and wow I never saw so much snow except in Italy when we went skiing. We have to go to the mountains here to see some in winter. We did that in the past Trow the sleighs in the car and took the kids there
marja...was out taking more shots and will post some later. I don't know if i've captured the depth of it because the light is still very flat. But MAN we have a lot of the stuff. It's been a very long time since I've seen this much...it seems more than last year, and before that we had a few winters that were pathetic and predominantly icy.
This was a doozy of a storm...usually Fredericton doesn't get the brunt of it...we're a bit out of the snowbelt. But, we weren't by-passed this time.
that's just beautiful - reminds me of my childhood
where i'm sitting right now, the snow is up past the window sills..big flakes are attached above it...the streetlight is on...a pale yellow glow on one of the big snowdrifts piled high along the side of the street. my neighbours have their front lights turned on .... and a warm glow of indoor lights tell me they are safe and sound. it is beautiful. and it has finally stopped coming down from the skies.
You would've laughed Paul....right after i took the first picture of Gracie, she turned around and came back into the house. We thought she had decided not to venture out. Instead, she decided she needed a running jump to make it all the way through! She FLEW up and over the drift and landed beyond. she is a character...fearless too, the little minx. ;)
My dogs? Would be totally lost in that snow.. but no fear... they won't even venture out if the rain is falling. BRRRRRRR.
Isn't it nearly time for Spring?
Boxer...good to see you again. Your little chihuahuas would tiptoe on the top of the snow....but they'd need little sweaters and booties on.
I WISH it was time for spring....on the west coast more so than on the east coast. We still have March madness to go. think I'll spend it at the tanning salon.
ps. I showed my kids your youtube videos. they cracked right up.
Wow! you really got dumped on didn't you guys! we didn't get that snow, just a dusting and the cold! it sure does look beautiful when you don't have to drive in it!!
Karyne...48cm! We've had 90+ cm of snow this month alone....more than last year, which is a bit scary given the wicked floods we endured last spring. Its the most snow dumped in one day in February ever in Freddy town.
There's no more room to put the stuff. The banks along the streets are at least 10 feet high!!!!
Love these pics. I know when I opened the door our doggie (no purse dog here) just looked at me. He is an older gentleman so I shoveled through the drift for him. He had a great time bounding through the snow. : )
Grace is a great Beauty! Such a Doggie dog, and yet so very Elegant! I'm happy for her out there in the snow unleashed....GREAT Pictures, my dear!
It's been over 20 years since I saw snow. This is just amazing! All that snow and she still wished to explore. A gorgeous dog!
