the spot

Is it the process of creativity where we learn to seek out the boundaries and then to cross over them? What if we all stopped at the very idea that what we want we cannot have? What happens if we simply accept these otherly proposed boundaries as the unchallenged status quo rather than to challenge the very line drawn in the dirt?

Swallow hard. Don't allow any drop of conformity escape to join a variation on the rules. Stay within what is acceptable. Don't thrust your unique thoughts onto rigidity. Performing through conforming, where all sing from the same songbook, where all speak the same words, where all ask for the same thing on the life menu........seems cult-like doesn't it, or at the very least a middle school mentality at living life? A missionary position with no creativity stretching allowed?
I want to leap outside this structural window when everyone's looking and begin to paint the outside of the structural boundaries in shades of blue, in streaks of orange.........I want to take my bright red magic marker and write boldly in big loopy passion. I want to run freely on the outside of the boundaries to slurp up the cherry sweet juices to feed my imagination. I want to be the one to push deeper into the wildness where fear teases and tickles all of my sensations so I can feel more alive. I can do that freely in my writing.......in my creative process.
Can I transfer it to life? Can I be that bold?
Boundaries have meaning..........and are all twisted up in a set of long held rules of conformity. We live and worship in a world which foists a heavy hand holding the conscripted orders that are seen as "good for us........" Some are realistic.........they are for our own good. But others? Untolerable, unacceptable...........challengeable.
We need to be open to manifesting our imaginations as the way to seek out the moments where one yells out for more, where one feels the pleasure of the frontier.........the open fields where love yearns to be consumed. Creativity has the capacity to push the boundaries beyond what is considered "meant to be" to a place where we begin to consider "what can be....." It is there where heightened stirrings fill us with what you are looking for.
It's all in how you see it in your imagination. It's all in finding the field to romp in.

It is all about being open to 'the moment', too....Not stopping any impulses...The "creative process" is one of the most exciting things there is in this world...The allowing of those impulses just because.....Having no barriers to anything that might stop you from "playing"....To me, that is what it is. PLAYING, with a full heart and and an open spirit and wherever that spirit takes you....WOW! Loosing all sense of time bcause you are lost in this magical wonderful thing that you are experiencing with your expression---there are no rights or wrongs.....Things just flow through you and out onto the paper, the canvas, the piano, etc...! GLORIOUS! It is just Glorious!

I love finding new fields to romp in...metaphorically speaking!! :)

challenging rules and boundaries...so often there is far more possibility than we see, if we can find a way of looking beyond what is immediately in front of us and gathering the courage to explore new territory...

I like the idea that boundaries aren't there to contain us but to make us stop a while and question before we take the risk, to help us choose our field(s) more wisely....:)

creatively it is far easier to hurdle those boundaries into new places than it is in real life though...to let imagination run free is beautiful, and young, infused with passion and adventure...
thats what I love about your writing and I love about Rob's art...

I agree with Katie as always but am stuck for any real words of description these days. Just wanted to stop in and say hi. Your vase is exactly the same pattern as my coffee cups also just to change the subject completely lol

Inspiring words! We simply need to get out of our own way!

Naomi....you captured it so beautifully! Time just play a role does it? Everyone should have an opportunity to feel this open ended way of expressing no matter what the creative choice is.
thank you for sharing your voice here! I would love to one day talk to you about it.

Katie....i wish boundaries were for that reason. But i can't get around the idea that they are there as a controlling factor. We need them as a society, but it seems like they are created most of them out of fear. Generally speaking, most are fearful of creativity and people who want to think and to express outside of the boundaries and continue to get caught up in believing that "what i want, i can't have......way of thinking...."

shaz....i'm glad you dropped by. i know you've got much on your plate these days.....love and healing to Ben.

mark....right on! We do get in our own way, don't we?? We are our own worst enemy!! Welcome back!

I'm not feeling too inspired today either but I did want to say how much I love that spot where you write. No wonder you are able to write so creatively in such a picture perfect setting.
