"Where there is poverty and sickness, including AIDS, where human beings are being oppressed, there is more work to be done.
Our work is for freedom for all ... We say tonight, after nearly 90 years of life, it is time for new hands to lift the burdens. It is in your hands now, I thank you."
Nelson Mandela, speaking at his 90th birthday celebration
It is in our hands now. We have work to do. Let's not let him down. Let's not let them down.

Hey Layla....I watched part of the Hyde Park celebration last night, including Mandela's speech.....which I have posted some of here. It was so moving. Such changes since he was released from prison in 1990....only 18 years ago.... amazing. But, like he stated, there is much more to be done.

What a beautiful, inspiring man. How he handled himself during and after his prison release is a lesson to us all.....

ps. Did you see any of the concert? Bono sang a song for him....it was a taped video shown at the concert......great song....great joy.

What a gorgeous sentiment. When I first saw this in my Google reader, I had to check if he was still living. What an amazing life.
