close your eyes and think of me......

Friendships are not confined to age groups. I believe one can learn more from a friend who may be a little older than you or a little younger. It can lead to a special companionship that may last a lifetime of looking at the world with new eyes.

You just call out my name

And you'll know wherever I am

I'll come running

To see you again.

Winter, spring, summer or fall

All you have to do is call

And I'll be there..........

You've got a friend.

I'll say AMEN to that. My 2 best friends were more than 15 year older than I and my newest friend is that much younger than I. We cal all learn from other generations.

Very true, friendship has no age boundaries....or mileage boundaries either :)

I heard a sermon years ago about the value of having a friend who is younger, & having a friend who is older. It was a time in my life I sought out people who were like me - in age, in looks & in their way of thinking. But, I remembered that wisdom & gradually changed my perspective. My life has been richer for it!

I've been reading here, but haven't left a comment in a long time. Thanks for sharing your London experience with your readers. You wrote a post before leaving that is one of my favorites - "Thin Places".

Oh..thanks for the Carole King memories, also!

Judy....Me too! In fact, I spent some time with a good friend this weekend.....who is in her 80's. I hadn't seen her since last summer. I found her this morning out in her gorgeous garden with a huge pitch fork attacking the buttercup weeds that were taking over her irises! Over coffee, we talked about Budhism, and Biofeedback, two topics she is determined to learn more about....told me today she's over retirement.....needs to a new project!

Layla.....no mileage boundaries is correct! It is what I LOVE about this world of blog....it has connected me with friends like you from all around the globe. Australia doesn't seem so far away.....California seems like it's just around the corner.....as does England......

we may be only able to sip virtual beer together, but it sure tastes good. :)

Sherry....HI! You were leaving a comment at the same time I was.
The Carole King song found me on the way home from work on Friday....hadn't heard it in a long time. It was one I had taught at a chapel years ago.....it holds special meaning to me. So, I wanted to add it to the two photos.....

Yes, I see that value too......

I have been teaching on and off for a while.....groups of adults and I have always always preferred to have a mix of ages in the group because everyone brings fresh persepctives and insights.

I've also just spent time in Nova Scotia this weekend...in a place which holds special meaning to my family and i. All ages are represented at beach suppers and campfires.....it's always been that way, even when my husband was the youngest of a big crew of kids and parents. It was where he spent his summers.

These two in the picture....my daughter and a little guy who lives close by (his older brother is my son's best friend) have known each other since the little guy was born. My daughter held him for the first time when he was only a couple of days old....he's a rambunctious little spitfire, which you would see from these pictures, but is often calm around my daughter....they both light up when they see one another. It's nice to watch...

Thank you for leaving a comment Sherry.....am glad you liked my UK posts....I still have a few in me, which will find their way here one of these days....

The thin places piece? I personally liked that one too. I think because it took a while to reach my fingertips.....the concept swam around in my head for a while.....

I agree completely! All through my life I have had and still have both.....Sometimes age just doesn't matter at all....It is what's inside and what comes out!

There's a lovely song by Zoe Lewis called "Small Is Tremendous" --- in it there is a line
"When a butterfly spreads its wings,
It affects quite a lot of things,
Like the African breeze I'm told,
By a very wise six year old"

Your piece made me think of it. And so I thought I'd share it with you.

thank you Tim. I love both photos. The first one reminded me of the book The Giving Tree. Do you know that story? It's one of my favourites.

What was so interesting is that before and after both pics, this little guy was a hellion.....an emotional minefield and attention seeking. I caught two moments of calm in this uncalm little boy. :)
