"Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon. A happiness weapon. A Beauty Bomb. And every time a crisis developed, we would launch one. It would explode high in the air - explode softly - and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air. Floating down to earth - boxes of Crayolas. And we wouldn't go cheap, either - not little boxes of eight. Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in. With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest. And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world with imagination. "

my boy loves his crayolas - he loves colouring outside the lines.... something his late uncle mike yaconelli would have been so proud of....
What a lovely idea no protests here
I second that!
That'd be awesome; at my ancient age I still have a very nice set of Crayolas...used more for scribbling than colouring now though.
This idea makes me feel thoroughly happy! My favorite thing as a child were crayons. I still love them...the smell, the look of new crayons never used...I don't know why but they make me feel safe. Holy crap just thinking about them cause tears to well up in my eyes. They are there just on the rim waiting to fall down my cheeks. All of this because of crayons...What the heck!!?!!!!
paul.....so much white to colour outside of the lines. Do you know that old Harry Chapin song, "Flowers Are Red?" It has a similar message as a different drummer......
Shaz and Anna......don't forget to look up every day.....who knows, maybe you'll see a little parachute floating down heading your way.
Niki........I purchased a new set of bright markers (the scented ones even) last weekend for my kids (it's school project time) AND I've been eyeing them ever since. February needs more colour.....and I need a project. It may be time to get the crayons and paints and all my craftie stuff out this weekend to create something spring-like.
Sunny.........I will not watch a kodak commercial with you if you get all verkempt over a box of crayons!! Who knows? Maybe you'll come into some fun money and you can go to the store to purchase some new ones.... wouldn't that be great?? :)
But what would we do with the people who chose to eat those crayons and wash them down with Elmer's Glue instead of coloring or drawing with them?
And I've got to put this out there... Are there any famous works of art in any of the world's major art museums that use/used crayons as their medium? It's just a point of curiousity for me. There's a certain artistic minimalism to crayons.
And on a completely unrelated note, my word verification is "ohiou." Which I find amusing as there is actually an "Ohio U" (as in Ohio University) in Athens, Ohio (not to be confused with the much larger/more well known Ohio STATE University in Columbus, Ohio).
Is there anything in the world as good as a new huge box of sharpened crayons? I can't think of anything with more promise than that!!
Perplexio......long time no see. :)
Sorry about the Bears. I even served Ditka pork chops for SuperBowl dins as a good luck charm........ah, maybe next year.
Your comments made me laugh....and remember the kid who ate the glue. There's always one in every Kindergarten class(and usually a boy) who got a hankerin for white glue. I wonder whatever happens to those little wingers?
And......an art exhibit? Well, all you have to do is venture into any day care or elementary school and you will see Picasso's in the making.
Ohiou? whyo, whyo, whyo.......why did I ever leave ohio?
Judy.....I most certainly agree. Promising and open to the skies of creativity.
This is wonderful! Who doesn't like Crayola crayons?
