And if God is great and God is good why can't he change the hearts of men?
Well maybe God himself is lost and needs help
Maybe God himself he needs all of our help
Maybe God himself is lost and needs help
He's out upon the road to peace
Tom Waits
If God is lost, where does it leave us? Maybe being lost is where we need to be. I can't think of anyplace where vulnerability feels more raw can you? And isn't the key to enlightenment found in the deepwell echoing plea......"help me?" Maybe God being lost is His way of changing the hearts of human beings? Maybe we need to heed His message and wander a bit farther into the wild?
Vulnerability awaits. So does humility. Both are heart altering.

Both are scary as .... uh... never mind :) it's true though, if you risk nothing, than you gain nothing; and life is anything but nothing
I don't think God is lost. But he is with us when we are lost. We cannot change our hearts unless we break that hard outer shell we hide behind and become vulnerable, and have humility before him.
His arms at at the bottom of the pit, waiting for us.
This is what ALL the peopple who voted FOR Prop 8 here in California--including the Supreme Court of California---NEED, TO HAVE THEIR HEARTS HEALED----I hope that is where God is, at this very moment, because that is where prejudice live---it lives in ones heart!
I recently realised that we will always be vulnerable... no matter what.
I sort of like it.
vulnerability and humility. both beautiful. if you know how to appreciate them for the gifts that they are.
Kay....very scary! But kind of a rush too....like jumping off the high diving board for the first time.
Gilly...I had a great conversation with a friend today and this is exactly what we ended up talking about....how the softening of the heart melts the shell and affects ones thinking and actions. And it's all wrapped up in the feeling of humility and vulnerability. We both shared stories of experiences we had with instigating a change in a bruised relationship by taking a risk of reaching out despite having been hurt by another. I think it's easier to do knowing there is guidance and unconditional love from God.
Naomi....prejudism is such a hurtful act....and it is so rampant. Why people are so threatened by Prop 8 in Calif. (I have been following the story) is beyond me.
Niki....I love your old soul. I like it too. And you know what....? We're never alone in our vulnerability even when it feels like at 3 in the morning.
Irish Heather...I agree...sometimes when we're right in the middle of experiencing a massive episode of it, its the last thing it appears, but gifts come in different packages don't they? I tried to offer this same thought during a counselling session today..... :)
We were always taught that God is everywhere, sees everything and knows our very thoughts. I have a sneeky feeling I have secrets God doesn't know about, and He longs for me to tell Him.
For a vessle to be filled, it needs to be open.
David....and emptied?
spooky! Was going to use that song on my latest post - very profound (sadly a death put pay to that) - might in a day or two. Orphans is a remarkable work of art is it not?
a prophet mr waits is.....
Paul...I think I would describe him as an "everyman's mystic." He brings religion to street level at the time when dusk settles in the alleys.
