belonging..........

Stop along the way into Uncle Max's woods.
He is felt everywhere

"Belonging is what it means to be a family. If parents have encouraged initiative and growth to freedom, if children have been listened to and helped to make their own decisions, to accept and respect others, and to be open to them, if they have been taught to live the to-and-fro of life with others, these children will later on be able to live other forms of belonging and grow to maturity with greater ease. They will be more open to others because they will have lived trust and communion of hearts. " Jean Vanier, Becoming Human

I hopped over from Barbara's blog quite some time ago. I love your writing...the topics, the analogies, the poetry and the photography. I spent a great deal of time going over your archives and reading about your career. Keep it up. I have you in my favorites now ! You always give me something to think about.

welcome lynn...thank you for your kind words..how wonderful to know my archived stuff is being read. I actually printed off a lot of it recently and am going through it to "capture" themes and to see if I can stitch a bigger piece together and/or sent some of it out into the bigger world for publishing. Blogging has allowed me to find my writing discipline and voice.....the topic choices seems to float up from some place inside me. I never really know what I'm going to write about next. The exercise of writing daily and of allowing the words to flow from who knows is so gratifying.
I have also been thinking about starting another blog to "pull out" my poetry.......it seems to get lost. When a poem does float out of me, which isn't often it is one of the most fulfilling aspects of this writing love.

I will visit you soon.....

thank you for leaving a comment. I hope you will do so often.

hi bohemian...thank you. I love these pics. I took many that day and will post others later in the week.

paul....vanier sure summed it up, didn't he? in it he defined family as well as our main role as parents and members of community. these truly are the big life lessons where our foundation for seeking answers, for seeking a clearer understanding of a Higher Power, for tackling adversity, and for having the confidence to ask the elusive "why" don't you think.

as for the pics.......the first one I have a pic of Martha and her cousin Meg sitting in the same little alcove when they were 2 years old. They were inseparable at the time, and played for hours all on their own. At the time, we had a big group there having a beach supper....big campfire etc in between these enormous "red rocks" (will post a shot of their beauty soon).....all the while Martha and Meg stayed in the alcove and played. So, when we revisited this beautiful spot along the shore, I asked the kids to climb in their again.........

happy tree climbing, my friend.
