"Its coming on Christmas
Theyre cutting down trees
Theyre putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on"
Joni Mitchell.
Lily looking for reindeer just past the snowdrift. Me? I'm dreaming of skating away on the river..............
"I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
Oh I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on"

One of my favorite songs, but I am sure you could've figured that out.
Have you heard the Indigo Girls live version of it?
Those lyrics are beautiful! I'm not sure If I know this song. I love the indigo girls that tori mentioned but don't think I've heard them sing it either. Will have to utube it. Lily is adorable and the pictures are so cozy.
thanks SO much for your flattering comment today! Channeling The poetry goddess!! I wish!
But I love all your kindness and encouraging words.
Oh to be on the banks of the
St. John River valley
when the snow has fallen
and the trees are dressed in white...
I miss it..

I wish I had a river I could skate away on - oh how I wish for that. Beautiful pictures Dana on this and the last post.
Tori....yes, I have heard the Indigo girls version....beautiful. Sarah McLaughlin has an album out called Wintersong (last year I think). She sings it as well.
Lucy....it is a wistful song. Joni Mitchell wrote it years ago, but has recently been ressurected. Check out Sarah McLaughlin's version too. She sings another one I love (written by Gordon Lightfoot) Song for a Winter's Night. It is the best Canadiana love song for this season.
N. Will post more photos for you during my travels this winter.....
ps. you're always welcome to return..... I hear there are two uni's close by. :)
gypsy......glad you enjoyed them. take care.
