I always thought these trees were so special. As a child I would sometimes try and peel more of the bark back than was there already, but it's so much more beautiful when it's revealed as it's supposed to be.
Now it's been pointed out to me... it could be one sexy male tree stripping back it's shirt to expose a perfectly toned torso... exceedingly tactile - whatever goes on in the woods after dark I hesitate to even wonder..
though I'm not sure how that fits with my previous comment!!! ;)
Katie....reading both of your comments back to back, i would say Papa Freud would have a good eyebrow raising chuckle if he was reading them! Oh, and btw, GREAT minds think alike! :)
texas....gotta love nature's ability to regenerate......wish i could peel off a few of my own layers.
keith...thank you. I took a whole bunch of photos of this particular tree as it had various pieces of bark layers lifting off the trunk and the light was catching it beautifully. i'll post a few more in later posts.
debbie....welcome. hope you return again soon.
jenn....i love trying to capture the details in nature that perhaps would be missed in the greater scheme of things.
katie......i was wondering if it was my dirty imagination, so I'm glad you see what i see as well. It makes me feel a little less twisted! Are you sure you want to meet me now that I have admitted I see naked men torsos in birch bark trees?? :)
Well...I was all prepared to leave a religious comment until I read Rainbow Dreams' last comment. I then had to go back and look closely at the tree. Gosh...now I am blushing!!

Beautiful picture. My first visit to your blog was well worth it. I also enjoyed both your post on Mabel and the "A Walk and A Thought" one very much.
Wow, great detail in your photo.
