So, we have gone from everyone being frisked from head to toe by electronic devices, taking off our jackets and shoes for inspection, having our carrying on luggage sorted through.........no flicking of bic lighters, and definately no tweezers, nail clippers or mail openers allowed on board any flight, to relinquishing everything from hair mousse to covergirl make-up to baby formula. One zip-loc baggie per person with a couple of saltines in it is allowed. No liquid tylenol even if your kid is sick. No water bottles, suntan lotion, food, books, mascara, toothpaste, eye drops, booze or perfume........nada! Before you know it, we'll be boarding flights in our birthday suits.
How visual. Wrinkly, saggy baggy naked people all in a line up going through the inspection area at the airports around the world holding a baggie filled with saltines. People of all shades, shapes and sizes and ages and religions ...............naked in the eyes of the airport x-ray technicians.
The whole travel scenario has left me with many questions as to how great our security really has been since 9-11. I'm also wondering, heaven forbid that I am thinking this way, if we have gone off our rockers as we bend over backwards not to be discriminatory. We all have to succumb to the security regulations even if we aren't Islamic?

Were we ever safe? Is security just a facade? Do they really know what they are looking for and how consistent can the frisky search be when nothing is safe, when everything and everyone is suspect?
Why is it that all individuals travelling, including 80 year old Italian grandmas who say Mass everyday, red-headed freckly 10 year old boys..........and everyone in between have to be considered suspect? We know that the terrorists are Islamic. We know that their goal is to annihilate all "infidels" and yet, airport and customs officials are forced to frisk little girls carrying Dora the Explorer backpacks?

Governments and law enforcements across the globe are spending billions of hours and billions of dollars to "monitor" the flow of travellers, to tap into internet discussions, to infiltrate mosques and cybercafes, when an informant comes forward (thank God) to let them know what's up in the bomb creation underworld, so that they can swoop in and safe us from disaster? So, we are living on "critical high alert" or some such thing. What does that mean?
Today in the news, Canadian officials are allowing the purchase of duty free booze and perfume again if it is delivered by a representative directly to the consumer while boarding. Good thing they are travelling nakedly light so that they can carry their bagged saltines in one hand and their Jim Beam in the other.
Oh I feel so safe......................and very confused.

The sofie left wing ACLU (and whatever the Canadian version is) types would be horrified at profiling. The courts will back them in any challenge to any system that profiles hence granny may some day have to suffer a cavity search. You can pack a lot of stuff internally.
Well before 9/11 the biggest attack against the US was from some white dudes in Michigan so i guess they have to search everyone. And I am absolutely sure that profiling exists on a massive scale so whatever.
I think the whole thing is a crazy over reaction. I know they have to be careful about things, but there has so be other ways... i mean come on, no water?? Nuts!

You know I am a liberal loving guy and all, and I think outside the box (or the bun), but don't you think we might help those poor downtrodden Muslims who are horrified by bare shoulders, whisker free faces, navel revealing pants, female hair, female legs, arms and swimming with infidels by enouraging them to stay in a deplaced persons' camp somewhere in the desert?
You know, we might even contemplate banning Muslims, or banning Islam. Why be pecked to death with accomodation when all we have to do is make them hate us so much that they can't stand being around us?
I say, we could also get a Muslim drunk and then steal his money. Now that could be payback.

The problem isn't Muslims per se; it's Islam.
Islam is the root cause of jihad.
Fortunately, there's a movement of Muslims who want to reform Islam to scrap the hateful, supremacistic, intolerant, sexist, imperialist, etc., etc... parts of it and just keep whatever's possible to be nice.
If other religions could and have reformed to adapt to changing times, so can Islam... but should it fail, then it will naturally become more or less extinct, at least by fading away following a nuclear defeat. Think the defeat of the Nazis and the Imperial Japanese. The only thing Islamic fundamentalists understand or respect is superior power, force and submission. They must therefore submit to the superior forces of freedom, democracy, the rule of law (not Islamic "law") and human rights.
As for "saggy, baggy" naked people, those weirdoes whose rocks are gotten off by that sort of thing can visit a nudist colony (most residents are middle-aged and older, don't go to the gym and sometimes even wear knee-high black socks) or a gay/moonbat parade. Plenty of ugly naked people there. Not that I've ever attended... there's enough naked dudes in the gym locker room who seem to have the necessary mental disorder to believe that locker rooms are nudist colonies and therefore just stand around, talk, walk around bareassed. Yuk!
Would our society please progress so that both sexes share the same locker rooms and showers? It's terrible that we straight folks have to put up with same-sex leerers in the locker room and shower whereas we're not allowed to see the opposite sex naked in public... this is discrimation against straights... gay folks need only go to they YMCA (as in "...fun to stay at..."-- Village People), to the locker room... hope someone drops the soap...

I'd never, never wear my big leather coat in the summer heat. And I wouldn't do anything to draw attention to myself via suspicious behavior, both things the two fellows did. Hey, if one's going to go around walking and quacking like a duck, folks don't want to take any chances... they'll assume you're a duck even though you're not. Common sense. So...
But then again, the 9/11 jihadists didn't look or act suspicious. That complicates the whole thing. Plus it isn't only M.E.-looking guys anymore. Now we've got white nuts, converted to Islam, submitting to the will of those who assign jihad acts...
I watched "Flight 93" last night on A&E, by the way. One really should watch these true stories. It's necessary. Necessary to understand the nature of the enemy. They don't negotiate. They have no mercy. No humanity. Their only desire is to kill and be killed according to the orders of some imaginary guy named "Allah". That's it. The bigger picture, moreover, is even worse: Islam is and has always been supremacistic, genocidal... and imperialistic. It's what led to the Crusades, actually. After centuries of Muslims attacking them, the Christians finally fought back. Much as Israel is trying to do (I just wish they would've finished the last operation rather than postpone the inevitable and make the enemy look good, using its propaganda machine and bribing Lebanese to side with them, etc...)
It must necessarily get worse before the right actions are to be taken. This is an unfortunate reality of the civilized world vs. the uncivilized world: the civilized world illogically, irrationally, emotionally, dogmatically projects its own qualities of goodness onto those who simply aren't good and are extremely unlikely to ever change. Change can now only come generation by generation. The Islamic supremacism and genocidal bent of devout Islamists is even less likely changeable than, say, the ideology of white supremacists, for the indoctrination is far more forcible and total under Islam. That thing we know as "humanity" is simply not taught, nor demonstrated, under fundamentalist Islamic regimes, like, for example, "Palestine", at the hands of Hamas and others within that area. But we don't have the time nor resources to reprogram the grey matter of literally millions of these guys spread out all over the world... as if their leaders would allow this, which they clearly won't.
History is repeating itself. That's the cycle. Evil rises, good appeases. Evil attacks, good eventually has no choice but to defeat evil... but to finally say "Let's roll" won't happen right away, unfortunately.
I don't know if I really agree with profiling. If all the threats were of Islam, you can always argue that people can convert. We actually had an article in the local paper here a few months ago about a straight-laced Canadian boy converting to become a martyr.
As for the liquids, it's a little much, but things will calm down soon. They've already started to here this weekend.
And we actually have talked about naked travelling at work.....ahahaha that would be a nightmare, unless they made planes similar to the Hedonism resorts, lol.
